Apoquel Chewable 3.6 mg (20 tablets) is a medication intended for the treatment of itching associated with allergic dermatitis and the clinical signs of atopic dermatitis in dogs.
Each chewable tablet contains 3.6 mg of oclacitinib (as oclacitinib maleate).
The tablets are pentagon-shaped, light to dark brown, mottled, with grooves on both sides, and can be divided into two equal parts.
This product is administered orally to dogs, and the initial recommended dose is 0.4 to 0.6 mg of oclacitinib per kilogram of body weight, given twice daily for 14 days.
For maintenance therapy, the same dose is given once daily.
The tablets are formulated to be palatable and may be administered with or without food.
Use of this medication requires a veterinarian’s prescription and is contraindicated in dogs with hypersensitivity to the active substance, under 12 months of age, or weighing less than 3 kg.
It is important to monitor dogs during treatment due to oclacitinib's ability to modulate the immune system, which could increase susceptibility to infections.
