Levonorgestrel Exeltis 1.5 mg is an emergency contraceptive tablet designed to reduce the risk of pregnancy after unprotected sex or contraceptive failure. This single-dose oral medicine contains levonorgestrel, a progestogen commonly used for emergency contraception.
- Single 1.5 mg levonorgestrel tablet taken orally as soon as possible after unprotected intercourse, and no later than 72 hours.
- Works mainly by delaying or inhibiting ovulation and making it harder for sperm to reach an egg.
- Can be taken at any time of day, with or without food, using a little water.
- Does not protect against sexually transmitted infections and is not intended as a regular contraceptive method.
- Contains lactose, so may not be suitable if you have certain rare hereditary sugar intolerances.
