Norlevo 1.5 mg is an emergency contraceptive tablet with levonorgestrel, designed to lower the chance of pregnancy after unprotected sex or contraceptive failure. It is a one-off option, not a regular method of contraception.
- Single-dose 1.5 mg levonorgestrel tablet taken as soon as possible, and always within 72 hours of unprotected intercourse.
- Works mainly by delaying or preventing ovulation so that an egg is less likely to be available for fertilisation.
- Intended for women of childbearing age after condom breakage, missed pills or other unexpected situations, as an exceptional measure.
- Simple oral dose with water, no complex schedule or repeated dosing for the same episode.
- Contains lactose among its excipients, which is relevant if you have known lactose intolerance or certain rare sugar metabolism problems.
- Does not protect against sexually transmitted infections and does not replace ongoing contraception.
