Capstar Dog 57 mg (pack of 6 tablets) is an oral flea treatment with rapid action: its active ingredient, nitenpyram 57 mg, begins to eliminate fleas in approximately 1 hour and achieves very high results within a few hours, which is why it is often used when an immediate effect is needed. It is administered orally — with or without food — and, to facilitate administration, the tablets can be hidden in a small piece of food; indicated for adult dogs weighing 11.1 to 57 kg (1 tablet) and over 57 kg (2 tablets), no prescription required, and can also be used during pregnancy and lactation.
It is not a preventive treatment for reinfestations, so to avoid future fleas, it is advisable to combine it with measures that target immature stages (spot-on treatments, collars, etc.). Do not use in animals under 4 weeks of age or in dogs weighing less than 1 kg. After administration, it is normal for the animal to scratch more during the first hour; in rare cases, transient signs such as hyperactivity, vomiting, or mild neurological reactions may occur. Store below 25 ºC; shelf life of the packaged medication: 3 years.
